Tranquillis is a unique resort proposed for a large site, adjoining Giraween National Park and surrounded by significant vineyards on the Granite Belt of the Southern Darling Downs in Queensland.
The Granite Belt is renowned for its spectacular landscape of rocky hills with dramatic rock outcrops and escarpments, cedar trees and other unique flora, as well as being the premier wine district in Queensland. Tranquillis will be a private resort on an elevated, secluded part of the site including 100 rooms and 25 private villas, sensitively designed within the landscape. Closer to the access road, a microbrewery and conference facility is proposed for more public access. The unique building typology employs natural materials including stone, timber and organic forms to reinforce and enhance the resort’s key concepts of sanctuary and a connection to the primitive.
