The Brisbane Ferry Terminal proposal brings a distinctive poetic character to a journey on the Brisbane River. The design responds to the different riverside locations as a harmonious synthesis of engineering and landscape.
In collaboration with Lat 27, we proposed a family of unique places for the city, imbued with the history, nature and cultural resonance of the river, and reflecting Brisbane’s sub-tropical character. The design is sensitive to the river environment, bringing together the urban experience of ferry travel and the characteristics of the landscape at the water’s edge. The proposal reuses the existing fabric of the terminals, allowing for a flexible response to varying conditions, and embedding sustainability as a fundamental tenet of the project.
