Our clients’ desired a house for both formal and informal family gatherings, where they could enjoy the beautiful temperate climate of Sydney and the available views whilst retaining privacy. The key design strategies of accommodating cars in a semi-basement space and a small central courtyard allow an unusually generous garden, integrated with comfortable outdoor living areas and a small lap pool. The slightly elevated ground floor houses all living areas, enclosed by deep and closely spaced timber framed glazing, while the upper floor includes additional enclosed private bedroom and study/library spaces.
Views have been carefully considered and captured in the detailed arrangement of the external forms and openings with adjustable privacy screens that consider the close proximity of adjoining houses. The house within its densely planted garden, natural materials and refined details will enhance the already beautiful and leafy site.
