Shane Thompson is a prominent Australian architect and a Past President of the Australian Institute of Architects Queensland Chapter and a new Life Fellow of the Australian Institute of Architects. He established Shane Thompson Architects after 24 years as a Principal of BVN Architecture where he was instrumental in their growth as a major national practice with an emerging international reputation. Shane is well known for being empathetic to his clients’ needs, and he consistently delivers beyond their expectations. 

 

Shane’s work from small houses to major urban developments, culture and education buildings, is well known for its sensitivity to place and its particular attention, building economically, materiality and tectonics. He has received over 100 national and international awards, and his work has been extensively showcased internationally. Key projects include the University of the Sunshine Coast Faculty of the Arts, the Queensland College of Art, Lavarack Barracks Redevelopment Living-in Accommodation, the Athletes Village for the London 2012 Olympics, the RNA Redevelopment Masterplan in Brisbane, the landmark Flow Apartments project on the Brisbane River and the 55 Elizabeth Street Office Tower in Brisbane.
