The mixed accommodation is made up of dormitory bunk bed rooms accommodating up to 10 people as well as private double rooms with ensuite bathrooms. From the new much larger and welcoming reception housing the large “Paradise” mural by artist Robert Moore to the generous landscaped courtyards and open verandah access, guests have space to retreat, rest, relax, mingle and party. Altogether a fresh, safe, secure, sub-tropical beach side and very Byron Bay experience both internally and externally embracing the gregarious backpacker lifestyle and YHA culture ![]() RNA Large Animal Pavilion Nears Completion of Stage 105 July 2018 The breathable stretched fabric façade is being erected as the RNA Large Animal Pavilion at the Brisbane Showgrounds Redevelopment nears completion of stage 1, set to open for The Ekka 2018 next month. Stage 1 will house this year’s cattle, livestock and a number of EKKA events on the lower 2 levels.
![]() Darwin Bombings Memorial makes World Architecture Festival 2018 Shortlist05 July 2018 Our competition winning scheme for the Darwin Bombings Memorial has been shortlisted in the future projects category for the 2018 World Architecture Festival Awards. As a finalist we will be presenting to an international jury in Amsterdam in late November when winners will be announced. This is the 10th time since 2010 that our projects have been a finalist in these prestigious Awards.

Kara has hit the ground running and is excited to be a part of the team at Shane Thompson Architects. ![]() New resort and lifestyle community proposed for Burnett Heads19 April 2018 Shane Thompson Architects have recently been commissioned for the design of a major new Central Facilities buildings and associated housing options within a community masterplan proposed for a greenfield site at Burnett Heads 15kms north of Bundaberg, which will shortly be submitted for DA. The proposed new community focused lifestyle development is aimed towards an older demographic who are actively engaged in the use of recreational vehicles and leisure pursuits. The design of the Community Facilities in particular is revolutionary for this building typology.
![]() STA receives 2 nominations for the International German Design Award18 April 2018 STA were today advised by the German Design Council that 2 of our projects have been nominated for the International German Design Award in Architecture. This prestigious international competition is only open to projects nominated independently by the German Design Council's expert committee. The projects nominated are Elements of Byron Central Facilities and 490 Consulting Suites in Brisbane.
